My small backyard garden boxes have
produced a bumper crop. This week I
canned nine half pints of tomato juice, baked seven loaves of zucchini bread
and ate several salads. This picture is only
part of what is waiting to be eaten now.
The basket in the picture is stocked with cucumbers, peppers and
tomatoes. There are still more tomatoes,
zucchini, swish chard, basil, rhubarb, peppers, cucumbers, and etc. Still rapidly
growing. God gave me a bountiful
harvest.

Memories
On my morning walk, I was startled to see an old horse drawn
mower sitting on a trailer on Pomona. It
appeared to be identical to one Grandpa Denison used with his team of horses.
I remember him bouncing along in the east pasture hour after
hour. It seemed that neither he or the
horses ever tired. Occasionally he stopped
for a drink of water from the gallon jug he had wrapped in a gunny sack and dipped
in cold well water before leaving the ranch yard in the morning. At lunch time,
Mom would load Bill and me into the car, and we would deliver a picnic lunch to
Grandpa. Mom would spread out a quilt,
and we all sit around munching on potato salad and sandwiches. After lunch
Grandpa returned to the mower until dusk.
He continued to guide the horses from one end of the meadow to the other
and back again cutting down a six foot swath of hay each time until the evening. Then he sharpened each sickle to ensure the
neatest cut the for the following day.Sunday, January 6, 2013
How Not to Cook
The Joy of Cooking
I created an outstanding mess!
This picture is of the inside of my microwave after
I attempted to cook two small spaghetti squash. The
interesting thing was the smaller squash cooked perfectly and
the larger squash blew up.

Christmas Tree Hunting
December 8, 2012 we went Christmas tree hunting up above Red
Feather Lake. The wind was blowing about
50 miles an hour but there wasn’t any snow.
I actually accidently stepped off into running icy cold water. We had an invigorating time. However, my tree has been a challenge. I ended up wiring three branches
together. We call it "My Three
Trees." The experience is all about
reenacting and establishing family traditions. These pictures were taken above 8000 feet.

Twelve Whales
We watched twelve whales feeding. Two came right toward our ship,
swam under, and reappeared on the opposite side. They were amazing.
They worked together to corral the smaller fish swimming in smaller
and smaller circles. That feeding is called bubble netting.

Seattle's Pier 57
I took this picture with my cell phone while we were eating lunch.
I love the shape cut out by the umbrellas.

The upper left picture is an old slide I scanned from when we visited St Bartholomew's Church in January of 1972. I think the film was Fuji and that is why it is so blue. It was a beautiful extremely quiet place surrounded by high mountains on all four sides. Even without the church it would be a place to worship God because the magnificent surrounding creation glorifies Him.
